Marija Mandic on art
HEY YOU! the XL sketchbook and the matching canvas bag are now available and complete the collaboration "Marija Mandic for nuuna". We have taken this as an opportunity to ask the artist about her understanding of art and the meaning of the artistic process.

Art activates creativity and allows our soul to express something that words cannot. Inspiration is something that suddenly appears. For example, the idea for our WALKING ART notebook came to me unexpectedly. I took my linen coat and passionately started to paint!
With very complex technology, the nuuna team has been able to follow all my artistic ideas and to realize it. The progress was interesting, as well as challenging. Working on the art edition for nuuna was very inspiring to me.

I have always loved having a beautiful notebook for writing down my ideas and emotions – capturing the soul of a given moment. It is a very unique feeling to give your notebook a new life through your written words, and simply having it as a perfect companion in everyday life.
Being inspired by art represents for me the way of being independent, and authentic – your own creative power that brings a change. Art is collective vibration and a transfer that visually conveys the messages of our invisible reality. Within art, everything is possible, it is as if we have to reprogram ourselves by learning how to live only from soul consciousness.

There is something that is beyond all definitions about how artists work. For me, the global impact of art is a tool of our consciousness, which breaks the barriers making the invisible worlds visible. Being an artist is a kind of challenge as well, finding the connection between the physical and spiritual expression of emotions.
Art and artworks have many faces. Painting process brings very strong feelings and suddenly, there is a kind of awakening between the artist and the artwork, a sense of ancient knowing, the birth of a new life. Metaphorically said, you become the midwife of art. It feels like emotional integration; when we become fully present with what we are experiencing at the given moment. Works of art have the power to expand our shared common visual language. In this way, everyone becomes a part of art in a very unique way.

HEY YOU! is a story about freedom, inner wealth and beauty. The skull is one of man's oldest and most powerful symbols, not only of death but also of rebirth. Skulls represent life and a symbol of change, the honoring of humanity in the flesh and the embodiment of consciousness, free-thinking; being independent, authentic and unique self. Be You To You For You!

Life is beautiful when you are completely yourself, when you follow your inner voice and liberate your heart. This is the highest form of Art!

All books were produced in an elaborate process and in close cooperation between the artist and the project team. The greatest challenge in the production process was to reproduce the colour accuracy of Marija Mandic's painted artwork on the cover material of our books.
All notebooks from the „Marija Mandic for nuuna“ collaboration are bound in smooth recycled leather, a sustainable material that is made from leather production cutoffs. The brilliant result was finally made possible by a digital screen printing process in the finest resolution and colour brilliance.
