How to colour the edges of a book?
On our first books featuring edge colouring we applied the paint with a spray gun – a rather classic method. Once, optimized this method quickly lost its charm. We were facing the challenge to run a motif all around the book. With the help of an altered printer printing three open sides of the book in three passes we were able to implement this design idea. Ever since the 360° design has become the brand mark of our nuuna books.
We are currently working on giving our white edges the visual effect of being made from a completely different material so that the book block appears like a strong glass plate or a polished stainless steel block. As you can see: it never gets boring over here.
